Introduction to Community Watch
Welcome to The Villages! Regardless of whether you are a year-round resident, a seasonal resident, or a visitor to our community, you will quickly realize
that The Villages is a very unique community. The way your District Government operates to provide services and maintenance in our community is also very
unique. Your District Government is made up of several different departments that all work together as a team to ensure quality services to our residents
Community Watch is a division of The Villages Public Safety Department. We are on-duty 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Our mission is to provide a
safe community for our residents and visitors by being the watchful eyes of the community. Although we are not a law enforcement agency, we work very closely
with the local law enforcement agencies that service The Villages community. As an “observe and report” agency, Community Watch plays a vital role in deterring
crime and assisting law enforcement to solve crimes when they happen.
Although our primary responsibility is to be the “watchful eye”, Community Watch has evolved into so much more as our community has grown. Community Watch
serves the residents and visitors of The Villages by providing assistance in four disciplines:
- Dispatch / Communications Center
- Gate Attendants
- Gate Operations
To find out more about the duties and responsibilities of these areas, please take a moment to explore our webpages.
Community Watch is also vital to the overall District Government operation. We work closely with the other District Departments to assist them in providing
their functions and services. Over 35% of the service actions performed by Community Watch personnel during FY 2016 were related to assisting other District
