Our Story

The Villages Community Development Districts Recreation Department has been directed by the Village Center Community Development District Board to establish and create a new division of lifestyle services that focuses on community education and enrichment.

This new program will provide and operate fee based extra-curriculum courses. The Enrichment Academy will offer a variety of courses that will enhance and expand learning opportunities for our students. It will complement the existing resident led lifestyle volunteer and recreation services offered in the recreation centers, and provide even more choices to fulfill our residents' passion for learning.

The Recreation Department looks forward to growing educational and enrichment opportunities for our community, with diverse course offerings. This new program will provide short and long term viable and sustainable courses by establishing a self-supporting department, with income supplied from course fees. The core curriculum classes will grow and expand with many other beneficial, suitable and complimentary courses planned in the future. We welcome input and suggestions as we embark on this lifestyle service that will continue to make residents' dreams come true.

Become an Instructor

In order to provide a quality lifestyle service to our residents, we will be growing The Enrichment Academy in phases. As part of our initial phase, Phase I, all offered courses will be “Core Courses.” These Core Courses are defined as academically and culturally enhancing, and teach students the foundational knowledge and skills they need for growth. Examples of courses include: writing; foreign language; history; art, dance, science; and basic technology.

The Enrichment Academy team welcomes prospective instructors who feel they teach “Core Courses” to submit an application for review, and consideration in our Phase I curriculum. Instructors will be contacted to schedule an appointment with The Enrichment Academy Recreation Manager. All approved instructors are classified as Adjunct Instructors. Additional contractual agreement and policy information will be provided if chosen.
