Wildwood, FL – Following the city commission’s recent authorization of approximately $1 million in funding for asphalt rejuvenation services, City of Wildwood officials have released the attached map of the city streets and roadway sections to be included in this year’s program.
The city’s contractor, Pavement Technology Inc., will treat approximately 840,000 square yards
of asphalt this spring. Work is expected to begin the week of Feb. 24, 2025, and take approximately two months to complete, weather permitting.
Wildwood’s Department of Public Works is responsible for more than 150 centerline miles of
roads, with a goal of maintaining an average Pavement Condition Index (PCI) network rating of 82 based on a standardized scale of 0 (worst) to 100 (best or new). Each road segment is monitored and its condition analyzed to determine the most effective, cost-efficient treatments to maintain quality, extend life, and protect taxpayer investment.
Treatments include traditional mill and overlay (M&O), as well as micro surfacing (MS) and fulldepth reclamation (FDR). Each offers advantages for specific situations. A specialized algorithm, along with engineering assessments, helps establish the city’s approved pavement management plan.
“We take great pride in the quality of our streets,” said City Manager Jason McHugh. “The
commission and I consider exceptional roadway condition a priority, and we are fortunate to have a top team of public works professionals with the skills and experience to uphold those standards for the benefit of our residents.”
Residents on affected streets will be notified before work begins via a door flyer and will have access to their properties at all times during the treatments.
Project updates will be posted on the city’s website at wildwood-fl.gov. Anyone with questions can call 352-330-1343 for more information.
