Board Meetings are held at Savannah Recreation in the Ashley Wilkes Room, located at 1545 Buena Vista Boulevard, The Villages, Florida.
The Villages Public Safety Department Dependent District (VPSDDD) was established pursuant to Chapter 189 of Florida State Statutes and Sumter County Ordinance 2023-18 on November 28, 2023.
VPSDDD has the duty and authority as authorized by law and Ordinance 2023-18 to provide fire, rescue, and EMS transport service facilities, infrastructure, and other public facilities to the property owners within the established boundaries.
Governance of The Villages Public Safety Department Dependent District is accomplished by a five (5) member Board of Supervisors initially appointed by the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners. Following the expiration of the terms of office of the initial members of the VPSDDD, each member shall be elected by qualified electors and shall hold office for a term of four years and until a successor is elected and qualifies.
As a governmental entity in the State of Florida, The Villages Public Safety Department Dependent District is held to the same high standards as cities and counties as it pertains to Sunshine Law, Public Records Law, Financial Reporting and Financial Disclosure Laws. Additionally, the Board of Supervisors adheres to Florida Statute Chapter 112, Part III - Code of Ethics for Public Officers and Employees.
